Building the Fresh Fire Family

by Revivalist Todd Bentley

As a result of a scriptural promise, I believe that Fresh Fire USA has tapped into a new level of authority that can bring you great blessing. When you partner with us, we can come into agreement for powerful breakthroughs in your life. The following verse expresses my commitment to you: "I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy" (Phil. 1:3, 4). In this Scripture the apostle Paul spoke to his partners as if it was his partner's conference. At Fresh Fire we usually pray for our partners several times a week. Each time I pray, I like to make petition for all of our worldwide financial and prayer partners.

While we love and appreciate the support and presence of every visitor to our conferences, there's something about partnership and the family-type atmosphere it creates that is very powerful.

When I'm with partners and staff, I'm overwhelmed with feelings of honor and joy. I'm reminded of my early prayers to God, asking Him to stir the hearts of the people He wanted to help support the ministry He had called me to. Today I see His answers to those prayers manifested through Fresh Fire USA. I believe in the power of prayer and partnership because God calls people to be part of a local church or a ministry. Yes, He calls people to certain places—He puts a desire or a tug in hearts to partner or join.

For some people, I don't fit the mold—I don't come in the ideal package for evangelistic ministry. Perhaps they wonder how a young guy with earrings, colored hair, and a wild custom truck could be doing what he's doing. Yet for others, the ministry is the ideal nontraditional package to reach a lost world.

God has tugged on the hearts of every one of our existing partners and may be calling you to join us as well. Prayerfully, we appeal only to those whom God calls to join us, and as the apostle Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians, we say thank you for "your fellowship (your sympathetic cooperation and contributions and partnership) in advancing the good news (the Gospel) from the first day (you heard it) until now" (Phil. 1:5 amp).

Yes, Paul thanked God for their fellowship, for his relationship with them as well as financial and prayer support. In the same way he said something like: "We're advancing the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ together—you and me—even though you're not physically with me, though you attend a local church, work every day, take care of your family, and do what you do, we're in this together. As you support the ministry, I take the gospel into other countries—even though there are riots in Ephesus—I'm laying my life down for the sheep and I'm preaching the gospel. Even though we're apart, you're with me through your support and prayers, through your partnership with me."

Just like Paul and his team, we (not Todd Bentley, not Fresh Fire USA—we as a ministry, together with our partners) are advancing the gospel of Jesus Christ! We are mobilizing humanitarian aid. We are feeding the hungry in many countries. We are partnered with a pastor and Orphanage in Haiti. Say it! We. Us. Every time I stand on a platform and preach to multitudes, it's "us," it's "we." Paul spoke to his partners and said: "This is what we're doing because you are fellowshipping with me." Paul spoke of fellowship, of communion—an intimate bond that Paul had with his partners.

That is what we seek—an intimate bond. We want to know you and your families. We want to have a partnership together in the gospel. (I feel sweet anointing on that—oh, Holy Spirit) I believe God is going to release a special anointing as you read and walk in these teachings. A great authority will come for impartation into your lives. This is more powerful than a big conference—this is partnership. You may partner with several ministries—tremendous! Be a part of whatever ministry God has called you to support.

Let's examine what else Paul said about partnership: "Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only" (Phil. 4:15). Paul continued his discussion of partnership saying: "For even in Thessalonica you sent aid (contributions) once and again for my necessities (needs). Not that I seek the (your) gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received...the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God" (Phil. 4:16-19).

We want to echo Paul's heart; we want to see that you are blessed, that a harvest of blessing accumulates to your account. He talked about gifts being a fragrant aroma, an offering, and a sacrifice that God welcomes and delights in. Then Paul said that because of their partnership: "My God shall [liberally] supply [fill to the full] all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19).

We need to understand that partnership is a covenant. It's an agreement between two parties. Let's read what the Lord said to Moses about his covenant partners. "Count up the plunder that was taken—of man and beast—you and Eleazar the priest and the chief fathers of the congregation; and divide the plunder into two parts, between those who took part in the war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation [who stayed home]" (Num. 31:26,27). Just like Moses's warriors, when we obey the word of the Lord and risk our lives on the spiritual battlefields in Muslim or Hindu hot spots like Uganda, Ethiopia, India, and Tanzania, those who remain at home in the congregation, at their workplace Monday to Friday, or at home with the children, share in the same reward. Our partners at home share the rewards of those at war on the front lines.

At Fresh Fire we are praying that the anointing of God's Spirit will come on our partners and provide everything they need. In fact, provision comes with God's anointing.

Today many churches and countless ministries are trying to build without that anointing oil. Nobody would want to come to our meetings or want to be a partner with us if we didn't have oil. As David said, "Your people will volunteer freely in the day of Your Power" (Ps. 110.3 nasb).

The first thing the anointing does is break yokes or remove bondages, and then it empowers believers for purpose and ministry. The anointing also brings favor, and favor brings provision. The Book of Acts confirms this principle: "And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all" (Acts 4:33). What did great power bring? Great power gave them the platform to give "witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace [or favor] was upon them all." After the release of this great power in the early church, people sold their lands and houses and came and laid it all at the apostles' feet. Why? Great power brings great favor and great provision.

Besides the anointing that we believe God places on the lives of partners, each one also receives a number of practical benefits for joining us and supporting us in taking the gospel to the nations. (See our Web site for details.) The greatest blessing of becoming a partner with us, however, is that the fruit of Fresh Fire Ministries is also your fruit. Please join me in this prayer:

Lord, we thank You that we aren't just partnering with a ministry—really we are partnering with You and Your gospel. Thank You that we get to be Your vessels. WE are so grateful for Your many blessings on our ministry and our lives, Father. Today, we want to seek You and e want to seek the anointing that comes from Your Spirit, O God. As your partners, we also ask You for the revelation that comes from Your Spirit today, and we want to pray that Your kingdom would come today in our lives. Lord, we cry out for fresh oil from heaven. Come Holy Spirit. Fill our lives with Your glory, Your favor, and Your fragrance. We receive the inheritance of partners, Lord, and ask for the anointing for healing, the prophetic, and for mercy. God, we love You today. You are so good to us. Thank You for the opportunity to partner with You and for the many ways You have already blessed us and that you have allowed us to impact thousands throughout the nations. We thank You, too, that You promise to continue to shower blessings on our lives and ministry as we do the works of Jesus for those in need. Amen.
