Now Playing: The Person of the Holy Spirit - Day 1

How would you describe your Christian life? Are you satisfied with it, or do you hunger for more in your relationship with God? Chances are that if you’ve experienced the person of the Holy Spirit you’ll want more, because no matter how much the Holy Spirit saturates us with His presence, each encounter is only a small taste of what we can encounter in the glory of God.

The Holy Spirit’s heart yearns to commune with you. He’s crying out, “Don’t go away—don’t be satisfied without My presence!” Paul wrote, “The [intimate fellowship] of the Holy Spirit be with you” (2 Cor. 13:14b). “Holy Spirit with us” is the key to a satisfying Spirit-filled life, a life hungry for encounters with and intimate knowledge of the Holy Spirit.

The three Persons of the Godhead in heaven are not three Gods, but three in One: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit—each is an expression of God. To know God is to know the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. To know God is to understand that God is three personalities. To grasp His fullness, we must have intimacy and communion with each one. Though they are the same in unity and purpose, and do everything in oneness, they are still three Persons (1 John 5:8). As Christians we seek to know God the Father and God the Son, but in seeking the Holy Spirit we tend to seek only the power and infilling He offers and not the relationship. As we get to know the Father, we learn that He is not a God in heaven with a gavel who wants to hammer down judgment. Instead, we learn to know Him as Abba Daddy Father. We can also come to know the Father more intimately by coming to know the character and person of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is no less significant than the Father or Jesus. He is equal to them, and we must know the fullness of the Holy Spirit as fully as we know the Father and Jesus. All three persons of the Godhead were involved in our creation (Gen. 1:26; 3:22; 11:7). They were a team from the very beginning, and they are a team in our salvation. The Father demanded payment for sin, and Jesus essentially said, “I’ll pay for it. I’ll go because I love You, Father; I see the aching of Your heart for Your people. I will go to the earth, suffer, die, and become the atonement for all of them so that they can be restored into the likeness and the image of Us and have that intimacy with You that You desire.”

The Holy Spirit responded, “You’re not going without Me.” So together the Spirit and the Son restored fellowship and brought us back to that place where we could taste of their glory. This same person of the Godhead who worked alongside the Father and Jesus in creating you invites you to know, not just His supernatural power, but to know sweet fellowship with Him as a Person.
